Whether this is your first time or your fourth, these suggestions will help you make the most of your ACT conference experience.
Get Ready for #ACT21
Before the conference ever starts, you can start planning your time and activities. The attire encouraged for the conference is business casual.
Download the Conference App
In addition to a paper program, ACT attendees can have access to full conference information and attendees before stepping foot in Orlando. Browse sessions and keynotes or check out who else will be in attendance. You could even do some pre-networking if you’re keen. The Whova app will be available for download closer to the conference.
Sign Up for a Buddy
ACT’s Buddy program is a great opportunity for first time attendees to connect with long-time ACT members who have attended conferences in the past. It’s also a chance to make an easy contact, so you feel welcome and at ease. Conferences can be intimidating when you don’t know someone, or when you want to expand your network but don’t know anyone other than your coworkers. Request a Buddy and get paired up before you arrive!
The easiest way to buddy up is during your registration process – just request a buddy and we’ll do the rest. If you’ve already registered, reach out to Elizabeth Denton, ACT’s Membership Experience Manager, and she will make sure you have a pal for #ACT21.

First Time Attendee Reception & Opening Night
Sunday night is the official kick-off for #ACT21 and it’s a great opportunity for new attendees to meet fellow colleagues and other new attendees. This opportunity starts at 5 p.m. and the opening reception follows at 6 p.m.
Fun fact: every member is a part of an ACT regional chapter. Chapters have been formed to carry out ACT initiatives at a regional level and you can get started with your chapter in Orlando! Find your chapter here and then check out the schedule for your conference chapter meeting.
If you’re brand new to ACT, you may not know about councils. ACT councils provide expertise, thought leadership and networking for members in specific topic areas. As an ACT member, you can get involved in a council and can start right here in Orlando– just check the schedule. The five councils of ACT are:
- Telework/Alternative Work Arrangements
- Transportation Management Associations
It’s easy to get caught up and to forget the basics, here are a few quick tips:
- Bring your business cards – you never know who you’ll meet along the way!
- Visit the Exhibit Hall several times – no need to see every vendor in one visit, come back
- Registration is open for all conference days to help you register when convenient for you!
- Have fun and meet new people!
